a house, a home,a roof over head

We closed on our very first house on March 30th and immediately started the remodel process. The things we knew for sure we wanted to get accomplished before moving in were .....

 - tear out carpet in house. we thankfully discovered hardwood floors in the living room , and 2 bedrooms downstairs
 - Add some lights , the house came with very little lighting
- paint the walls and ceilings
- change out toilets in both bathrooms
- Finish the attic space that will become the boys room.
Well now 2 weeks into this endeavor that list has grown...  Marchello decided on his first day working at the house to tear out the panelling that covered the rec room walls...this added a substantial amount of work since that meant the now the walls would need to be drywalled and what not. I am learning that so much of home ownership is the thousand of little projects you start to see when you take a closer look :) We are trying to focus our efforts on only the necessary projects that will help us get into the house, seeing as we have movers scheduled to come on the 26th of April.

this is the area off the kitchen during the wallpaper removal and carpet removal stage ... the rec room and dining area off the kitchen both had orange carpet when we bought the house.

The hardwood floors we uncovered under the carpet in the living room and bedrooms downstairs this was a welcome surprise as the carpet was a dingy gray color.

So as you can see there has been definite progress made... still plenty to do. I will try to keep updating as the progress happens...
